Hi! My name is Tiki and I'm the cutest little Yorkie you'll ever meet. I love going on fun adventures with my people and today I got to do just that. My person loves trying out new coffee shops in Santa Cruz, Aptos and all over the bay. Most of the time she takes me with her. Sometimes I have to wait in the car, or remain tied outside. Today was an exception. Surf City Coffee Co. in Aptos provided me with a spacious, gated area to run around in while my person ordered her hot cocoa. Restaurants rarely have fenced dog runs, so this was a pleasant and much needed surprise. I love sitting at a table in the shade, but sometimes I just want to play with other dogs and not worry about sitting in one spot or being connected to my leash.
I may be small, but I need a lot of space to run and burn off all my energy. Surf City Coffee Co. made it easy for my person to relax while I socialized with friends in the large play area. They even provided water bowls for when I got thirsty and clean-up bags for when I made a mess. Also, there's no need to worry about unruly canines. There is a sign posted on the gate with rules and guidelines to keep doggy's like me safe.
The best part about the coffee shop was that everyone greeted me with a friendly hello. It's very apparent that these people love dogs. My person had the choice to sit in the fenced area with me, or directly outside of it. There were plenty of seats for everyone, even though the place was packed. The coffee shop far surpassed my expectations, and I think my person was pretty happy too. She looked very content while sipping on her yummy drink.
This was definitely a rare experience for me. There are very few restaurants that provide their own dog park. Surf City Coffee Co. was so much fun, I hope I get to go again soon!
My final review: five paws
~Tiki
